Eugene Saturday Market brings handmade goods, food vendors, and live entertainment to the downtown Park Blocks during its outdoor season. The regular outdoor hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on market Saturdays. Use the official calendar to check your date.

Nearby, Lane County Farmers Market focuses on locally grown and prepared food at the Farmers Market Pavilion at 8th Avenue and Oak Street. It has its own schedule and starts earlier than the craft market.

5th Street Public Market is a separate shopping and dining destination. Its shops, restaurants, and courtyard areas make it an option beyond Saturday mornings. Individual businesses keep their own hours.

Walk along the river

Alton Baker Park and the riverbank paths are good places to begin exploring Eugene outdoors. Choose a short walk, a longer bike ride, or a route that connects with another stop in town. Pre's Trail offers another well-known running and walking option in the park area.

Across the river, Skinner Butte Park gives you another place to spend time outside. If you want to include the butte itself, allow for an uphill walk rather than treating the entire visit as level riverfront terrain.

Take a hike or a garden walk

Spencer Butte is a familiar choice for a summit view. It involves a climb and uneven terrain, so allow enough time and choose the route deliberately. The steeper West Trail is different from the Main Summit Trail.

Mount Pisgah, in Howard Buford Recreation Area outside Eugene–Springfield, offers a longer summit outing and a separate network of arboretum walks. Parking rules and access notices differ from Eugene's city parks.

Find something to do indoors

Eugene Science Center has hands-on exhibits and a planetarium in the Alton Baker Park area. Check the day's exhibit hours and show schedule when planning a visit with children or a group.

On the University of Oregon campus, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art offers another indoor option. Review current exhibitions and admission information before going.

For a rainy afternoon, you can also combine a bookshop, coffee, and a meal. Some destinations involve walking between buildings, so a shopping area is not necessarily a fully indoor outing.

Springfield offers more parks, restaurants, and recreation opportunities, including Willamalane's parks and facilities. It is worth including when you have time to explore both cities.

For a coastal day, travel west toward Florence and consider Old Town, a beach stop, or the Oregon Dunes. The McKenzie River lies east along Highway 126, while Willamette Pass is reached along Highway 58. Choose one direction and allow for the drive, weather, and seasonal access.
