Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint sits north of Florence on Highway 101. Oregon Parks & Recreation: the light sits 206 feet above the Pacific; the 56-foot tower was first lit in 1894; the automated beacon is rated the strongest on the Oregon coast, visible 21 miles. You cannot drive to the lighthouse. A half-mile trail from the parking area climbs about 150 feet, passing the lightkeeper’s house. Ground-floor interior hours are 11 a.m.–3 p.m. March–October and 11 a.m.–2 p.m. November–February, weather and staff permitting; upper levels are closed. You cannot drive to the light
OPRD’s FAQ is blunt. Park, walk the half mile, climb 150 feet. Interior is ground floor only. School groups email heceta.h.lighthouse@oprd.oregon.gov.
Weddings and drones
No ceremony inside the lighthouse. Outdoor weddings: contact the park. Drones are banned for historic and wildlife reasons. Parking permits still apply for keeper’s-house weddings.
January 126 is the showing
